Stone, light, sound

Stele Lucis.

Two blades of stone. The light that passes through them. A single voice.

Stele Lucis is a loudspeaker that takes the form of a portal: stone, light and sound become part of the same architecture.

Internationally registered design

Carved from stone.Lit by light.Alive with sound.

The construction

Two blades of stone. Between them, the light.

Behind the driver, cantilevered, the turned-wood resonance chamber stays in view.

It isn't hidden because there is nothing to hide: everything you see is structure.

Each upright joins stone and metal. The slab defines the material and the mass; inside, a structural steel core runs through the upright and continues into the base.

It is not only what makes the form possible: it stiffens the structure and helps control vibration.

And the base is carved from the solid: a single block of marble, hollowed, not a box of panels.

Architecture and acoustics are born of the same solution.

The wooden heart

The cone, turned by hand

The resonance chamber is built from a stack of wooden rings, glued and then turned one by one to the finished profile. Each is a one-off, hand-made in the same workshop that works the stone.

The height

The height comes from the ear.

The driver axis sits 1136 millimetres from the floor.

It isn't a measure chosen to make the form taller. It comes from where the ear sits while listening.

Stele Lucis brings the sound source naturally to the height of a seated listener.

Its vertical proportion is born from this.

The light

It rises from the base, it doesn't fall from above.

Between the two uprights, a light source recessed into the base looks upward. The light rises grazing along the inner faces and passes through the stone.

At full intensity it is 2850 K. As it dims, it warms progressively down to 1800 K: it isn't only the intensity that changes, the atmosphere changes.

Like a flame.

Even when it isn't playing, Stele Lucis goes on inhabiting the space.

The material

The design is one. The stone never.

Veining, shifts of tone, mineral intrusions: each slab keeps its own geography.

This is why two Stele Lucis can be born from the same drawing and never be identical.

The stone does not clad the object. It is what makes every pair unrepeatable.

The sound

A single source. Nothing in between.

A single full-range driver reproduces the heart of the musical spectrum.

No crossover divides the signal between different components: one source, one emission.

For the deepest frequencies, the system is completed by Basis Gravis 200, the subwoofer designed to accompany Stele Lucis without changing its character.

The next step

It begins with the stone.

Choose the material your pair will be born from. We'll tell you availability, working times and price. Every Stele Lucis begins with a choice — and with a conversation.
